AI Innovations Boosted for SMEs in Singapore Through New Collaborations

by admin477351

Singapore is ramping up its initiatives to assist small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into their operations. This push involves forming new partnerships, launching training programs, enhancing cybersecurity, and establishing industry awards aimed at fostering AI adoption. Senior Minister of State for Digital Development and Information, Tan Kiat How, emphasized at the Asia Tech x Singapore event that businesses should prioritize practical AI applications over merely chasing industry trends.

The government has unveiled expanded measures under the Digital Enterprise Blueprint (DEB), which is Singapore’s comprehensive strategy to facilitate SME digitalization and AI integration. Since the DEB’s inception, over 26,000 SMEs have benefited, with AI usage among enterprises surging from 4.3 percent in 2023 to an anticipated 53.5 percent in 2025. Part of this expansion includes new alliances with companies such as Grab and RSM Stone Forest IT, which will deliver AI training, technical support, and cybersecurity resources to SMEs.

Grab is spearheading a new AI initiative aimed at aiding 10,000 SMEs in the food, retail, and e-commerce sectors. This program offers free online training, webinars, and AI courses created in collaboration with the Singapore University of Technology and Design. Meanwhile, RSM Stone Forest IT is set to introduce a cybersecurity program that includes phishing simulation exercises designed to bolster the cyber defenses of 2,000 SMEs by identifying potential security vulnerabilities.

In a bid to provide further guidance, the government has introduced the “AI for Enterprise Impact Playbook.” This resource, developed by the Infocomm Media Development Authority, SkillsFuture Singapore, and Workforce Singapore, aims to assist businesses in pinpointing appropriate AI solutions and exploring workforce training opportunities. Additionally, Singapore is preparing to launch the inaugural SME AI Impact Awards in 2026. These awards will honor Singapore-registered SMEs that have successfully employed AI solutions for at least six months and have demonstrated tangible improvements in operations or workforce productivity.
