US-China Pact: Trump to Visit Beijing, Xi to Visit US After Deal

by admin477351

A new one-year trade pact has paved the way for renewed diplomacy between the US and China, with President Trump announcing plans to visit Beijing in April and President Xi Jinping planning a visit to the US afterward.
Trump made the announcement after what he called an “amazing” meeting with Xi. He suggested Xi’s visit could be to Palm Beach, Florida, or Washington, D.C.
The diplomatic warming is built on a tangible trade deal. The US will slash some tariffs and export controls. In exchange, China will buy US soybeans and, crucially, pause new curbs on rare earth exports.
This commitment on rare earths was a major breakthrough, as Trump had previously threatened a 100% import tax. The deal also includes a one-year US delay on a contentious tech restriction measure opposed by Beijing.
Following the meeting, President Xi spoke at the APEC forum in South Korea. He urged nations to “join hands” to protect global supply chains and practice “genuine multilateralism.”
